Pacific Power Source Launches Conducted Immunity Test Suite for IEC 61000-4 Compliance Testing

New Option Provides Test Sequences to Test for IEC 61000-4 AC Power Conducted Immunity Compliance

Irvine, California, October 2012 — Pacific Power Source is pleased to announce the release of a comprehensive suite of test routines specifically designed to test AC products for compliance with several IEC 61000-4 Conducted Immunity Test standards.

Most products manufactured in or exported to Europe have to comply with the European Union Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) directives. This covers both conducted immunity and emissions through the AC power grid. As such, products must be certified for compliance with harmonized standards issues by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the “CE” mark must be affixed to these products. Common AC Line related EMC tests are Harmonics and Flicker which are EMC conducted emissions tests covered by several IEC 61000-3 standards. Typically, the same AC Power Source can be used to perform both emissions and immunity testing.

Available as an integrated option package running inside the Pacific Power Source UPC Studio Windows control program, the IEC-AC-4XX option includes test sequences for the following IEC standards: IEC 61000-4-11, IEC 61000-4-14, IEC 61000-4-27, IEC 61000-4-28 and IEC 61000-4-34. A separate option package is available to test to IEC 61000-4-13. The 413 option includes an independent waveform generator to inject inter harmonic signals into the AC Power Source output as required for this immunity test. Detailed test reports in Rich Text Format are generated automatically at the end of each test run. Provided test templates can be customized with the End-users Logo’s and company name as needed.

As an integral part of the UPC Studio software, these IEC test options are available for both the Linear AMX Series AC Power Sources – which offers superior performance – as well as the Switching ASX Series AC Power Sources – which offers compact size. For high power Voltage Dips and Interruptions testing per IEC 61000-4-34, the 3060-MS Series AC Power source provides the required high current capability.

“We are pleased to offer this new capability to both new and existing customers of Pacific Power Source products. This latest revision option allows our customers to continue to get additional use and value from their AC Power Source investment and saves them a considerable amount of setup and programming time when performing these compliance tests.” according to Herman van Eijkelenburg, Director of Marketing for Pacific Power Source.

Target customers for this new EMC test option are EMC Test Labs involved with product certification and testing. Also, manufacturers of commercial AC powered products that need to CE mark their products can use this option to check for compliance during early stages of product development.
