MIL-STD-704F Test Solution for Avionics

MIL-STD-704F Pre-Written Test Standard Available with AC Power Sources

Latest Test Standard Revision F Provides Up to Date Test Sequences for Mil-Std-704, AC Power Compliance Testing for Defense Avionics.

Pacific Power Source is pleased to announce the release of its latest suite of test routines specifically designed to test AC products for compliance with Department of Defense Interface Standard Mil-Std-704, “Aircraft Electric Power Characteristics”. This new software option expands Pacific Power Source Inc.’s growing portfolio of Avionics Compliance Test options. The Mil-Std-704 test standard is published by the Department of Defense and applies to all military aircraft, both fixed wing and rotary. First published in 1959, it has undergone several revision changes culminating in its current revision F. The most significant change made by revision F was the

addition of test requirements for variable frequency AC power buses. Unlike traditional 400Hz fixed frequency aircraft power, variable frequency power systems allow the frequency to vary between 360Hz and 800Hz. This imposes significant new requirements on the Programmable AC power source used to test for Mil-Std-704 compliance.
MIL-STD-704F Test Solution

These pre-written standards are available as an integrated option package within the SmartSource Suite, a user-friendly control platform that simplifies testing.  The Pacific Power Source Inc. MIL-STD-704F option includes the latest revision F test sequences for all AC power groups. Power groups include single and three phase, fixed 400Hz frequency as well as single and three phase, variable frequency power groups. Finally, the single phase 60Hz power group test sequences are included as well.

Detailed test reports in Rich Text Format are generated automatically at the end of each test run. Included test report templates can be customized with the End-users Logo’s and company name as needed.

The MIL-STD-704F test option is available for all our AC & DC Power Sources.

“We are pleased to offer this test capability to both new and existing customers of Pacific Power Source products. This Avionics Test offerings allows our customers to get additional use and value from their AC Power Source investment and saves them a considerable amount of setup and programming time when performing these compliance tests.” according to Herman van Eijkelenburg, Product Director for Pacific Power Source.

The MIL-STD-704F pre-written test sequence option is ideal for customers such as EMC Test Labs involved with defense avionics product certification and testing. Also, manufacturers of AC powered avionics equipment that need to certify their products to this MIL standard can use this option to check for compliance during early stages of product development.

Pacific’s products range in power from 500 VA to greater than 625 kVA. Products are used in Power Line Conditioning, Frequency Conversion and Programmable AC Test Power applications. The company can also design and customize products to exacting customer specifications.
