The SmartTS-PVâ„¢ Inverter Test System is a complete automated platform for testing PV inverters, energy storage systems (ESS), and distributed energy resources (DERs) to IEEE 1547.1 and UL 1741 SB grid interconnection standards.
Designed for inverter manufacturers, certification labs, and R&D teams, the SmartTS-PVâ„¢ integrates grid simulation, DC power, precision measurement, and compliance automation into a single platform.
SmartTS-PVâ„¢ combines all required test elements into a synchronized, high-performance platform:
As grid interconnection standards continue to evolve, PV inverter manufacturers face increasing pressure to validate complex grid-support behaviors under tightly controlled conditions. Requirements such as IEEE 1547, UL 1741 SB, and EN 50549 demand advanced functionality—voltage ride-through, frequency response, anti-islanding, and reactive power control—tested across a wide range of dynamic grid scenarios.
Traditional test setups—fragmented across multiple instruments and vendors—introduce integration challenges, limit repeatability, and extend certification timelines.
SmartTS™ is a fully integrated, turnkey inverter test system designed to eliminate these constraints—enabling faster validation, reduced risk, and complete certification readiness.
SmartTS-PV™ transforms inverter testing from a bottleneck into a strategic capability. Validate against certification requirements early in the development cycle—reducing downstream risk and rework.
The SmartTS-PV inverter test system enables testing of critical DER grid support functions below. These tests ensure inverters meet utility interconnection requirements for distributed energy resources. Pacific Power Source Grid Simulators provide both source and loading capabilities with wide operating ranges, extra current, and robust hardware performance. These capabilities allow engineers to validate real-world performance and grid support functionality under controlled, repeatable conditions.
The anti-islanding test requirements for Distributed Energy Resources such as PV inverters or bidirectional V2G EV Chargers are mandatory for regulatory approval of these energy producing devices. Option P mode is the built-in anti-islanding test operating mode for Pacific Power Source AZX and GSZ grid simulators.
When enabled, it configures the system to electronically emulate the resonant RLC load required for anti-islanding testing, execute the grid disconnection event, and precisely measure the inverter’s response time using an internal digital storage oscilloscope. This mode allows the grid simulator to function as a complete anti-islanding test system—combining grid simulation, load emulation, and disconnect-time measurement in one platform—without external components, multiple instruments, or custom test software.
QualityLogic‘s software is pre-installed for testing to IEEE 1547.1 and UL 1741SB. The SmartTS system includes a built-in monitor. Learn how the SmartTS-PV platform simplifies DER grid compliance testing. Request a system demonstration or speak with a testing expert.
